Amilia K Spicer Amilia Spicer never set
out to sound like Stevie Nicks. In fact, she never really intended to
be a singer at all. Still, I was taken aback when I heard how strikingly
similar her voice is to that of the front voice of Fleetwood Mac. So
how did this all come to be? Amilia's goal when moving to LA was to
become a film director. An Oscar nomination wasn't enough to keep her
in the director's chair. Desiring a change, she traded her dressing
room for a (keyboard) and set out to become a successful singer/songwriter.
Upon listening to her latest release, Seamless, it's pretty
obvious she made the right move. To back that up is the fact that she
won the National Academy of Songwriters Female Artist of the Year award
after only two years in the industry. Her distinctively charming voice
is strong and playful. Her music is part folk with a touch of blues,
a touch of roots, and a dash of western flair. She effectively mixes
several styles of music in one package. The track "4:08" has
a hint of Rockabilly swing while the song "Little Cowboy"
invokes images of Gene Autry and Roy Rogers riding off into the sunset.
It's a terrific collection, and her similarity to Stevie Nicks adds
just another interesting spice to the mix.
